Whereas: H.F. 43/S.F. 154, also known as the “Gag Act” would effectively BAN virtually any mention of a candidate’s name by citizen organizations within 30 days of a primary and 60 days of a General Election; and
Whereas: The Gag Act would force citizens’ organizations to comply with mountains of paperwork and bureaucratic filing requirements in order to exercise their First Amendment rights; and
Whereas: The Gag Act would turn virtually any communication about a candidate for elected office into a “campaign communication,” leaving even a simple Facebook post open to over-regulation;
Therefore: As your constituent, I insist you do everything in your power to see to it that this radical scheme is defeated.
